about
i'm Malavika.
i have been vegan for six years. i started malagoesgreen because the resources i looked for as a new vegan - practical, evidence-based, relevant to the way people around me actually shop and eat - were not easy to find in one place.
my own journey began during the pandemic in early 2020. i had been non-vegetarian for close to a decade (vegetarian before that), and with more time to read i fell into a rabbit hole of books, articles and documentaries about the meat and dairy industry. what i found made it impossible to carry on the way i had. if i wanted my morals to be in line with my actions, i had to go vegan.
the site began as an instagram handle - a place to share what i was learning as i went. most of the vegan content i could find was written for countries outside of india, and did not speak to what a shopping list, a wedding menu, a moisturiser or a conversation with parents looks like here. @malagoesgreen grew from that gap.

the mission
to make a vegan life in india feel like a considered choice - not a difficult one.
that means fewer generic listicles and more of what actually helps: which dal has the highest protein, which biscuits are accidentally vegan, how to order at a punjabi wedding, what to swap in your parents' kitchen. written for the way we eat, shop and live here.

what the site covers
- guides - long-form references on diet, fashion, beauty and the practicalities of daily life.
- meal planner - a 4-week plan built around Indian pantry staples.
- shop - a curated selection of products across food, clothing, beauty and home.
- consultations - one-to-one sessions for individuals and for brands developing plant-based products.
